How do we get from the Private Reserve to Skukuza?

On Day 3, we combine your transfer with a full-day tour of the Panorama Route. Instead of a direct road transfer, you will travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to see iconic landmarks like the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window before entering the Kruger National Park to check into Skukuza Safari Lodge.

What is the difference between the game drives in Balule and Kruger?

In the Balule Private Reserve, you enjoy a more intimate experience with limited vehicle numbers at sightings and the ability for rangers to utilize specialized tracking techniques. In the Kruger National Park (Skukuza area), you experience the vastness of the park and its high-density "Big Five" riverine habitats, which are world-famous for Leopard sightings.

Are all meals included in this 5-day combo package?

To offer the best value for our local guests, we include a full breakfast every morning at both Imagine Africa and Skukuza Safari Lodge. Lunches and dinners are for your own account. This gives you the freedom to choose from the various dining options at Skukuza or enjoy a more casual meal at the camp shops.

What type of clothing should I pack for this trip?

Because you are visiting both the high-altitude Panorama Route and the lowveld bush, we recommend layering. The Panorama Route can be misty and cool, even in summer, while the game drives in the open vehicles require a windbreaker for the early mornings and light, breathable clothing for the sunny afternoons.

Day 01 :

Arrival & Balule Private Reserve

You will be collected from Johannesburg (OR Tambo) or Hoedspruit Airport (HDS) and transferred to the Imagine Africa Tented Camp in the private Balule Game Reserve. After checking into your luxury tent, depart for your first thrilling Big Five game drive in this exclusive, unfenced reserve. The drive concludes with a traditional sundowner overlooking the savannah before returning to camp to relax (dinner for your own account).

Day 02 :

Balule Predator Tracking

Wake up to fresh coffee and rusks before embarking on a sunrise open-vehicle game drive to catch predators on the move. Return to camp for an included breakfast. Spend your midday at leisure, enjoying the pool or your private deck. In the afternoon, set off for another dedicated safari focusing on the movement of large game and the reserve’s famous Elephant herds. (Dinner for your own account).

Day 03 :

Panorama Route & Into Kruger

After an early included breakfast, check out and travel the spectacular Panorama Route. You will stop to view the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. After a break for lunch (own expense), enter the Kruger National Park for an afternoon game drive en route to the Skukuza Safari Lodge. Check into your premium room and enjoy the riverside atmosphere.

Day 04 :

Skukuza & The Sabie River Network

Depart Skukuza at dawn for an exhilarating sunrise drive, tracking Lions, Leopards, and Wild Dogs in the highly concentrated southern Kruger region. Return to the lodge for an included breakfast. Spend the day unwinding by the infinity pool or exploring the museum and camp amenities. In the late afternoon, head out for your final dedicated drive, focusing on the waterholes where wildlife gathers before sunset.

Day 05 :

Final Safari & Departure

Enjoy one final early morning drive in Kruger National Park to maximize your chances of a farewell sighting. Return to the lodge for a final included breakfast before checking out. Board your comfortable vehicle for the return transfer, arriving back in Johannesburg typically between 17h00 and 18h00.
